The production cycle
The entire production cycle is performed inside the modern plant of San Mauro Torinese, extending over 9000 mq. The production cycle is characterized by an intelligent verticalization strategy, encompassing all the different steps: the mould construction; the moulding of plastic material; the refill production; the pens’ assembling by means of fully automated machinery and the final inspection.
Assembly: manual skills and automation
The assembly shop uses special final assembly machines and ad hoc systems for the preliminary assembly of the refill, which uses a ballpoint purchased from a leading italian company, recognised all over the world. The refill is produced starting from this ballpoint and the ink tube, which is filled by means of a vertical system using 500 lt recyclabe containers. The ink is injected into the tube, centrifugated and eventually moved from the machine to a testing station. Then the refills are loaded manually, avoiding any damage to their ballpoint, into a hopper which feeds the final assembly machines, where a series of devices adjust the position of the remaining pen’s components and the assembly process is completed.
Quality control
Stilolinea devotes the outmost attention to the final inspection of its products. Once assembled, in fact, all the pens are tested and undergo a careful visual examination to check for defects. After that, the finished pen is subjected to a writing quality test. Nowadays the company is recognised in Italy and abroad as an exclusive manufacturer of top quality pens. Environmental and quality certifications consolidate the company’s commitment to these goals.
Warehouse. Company strategy
The organization and management of the Stilolinea warehouse is one of the strategic choices that have prompted, and continue to ensure, its success. Stilolinea, in fact, produces and stores in its warehouse both work in progress and finished product’s stocks, having either the components and even the finished product always at customers' disposal to meet their needs. The production is not dimensioned by the only order’s portfolio, but on the basis of statistical and historical analysis of the demand. The company has deployed a highly sophisticated ERP system to fulfill this goal and to help production managers to plan their activities in a rational way. This warehouse’s management gives to the company the ability to meet very quickly its customers’ requirements, arising either the orders already acquired and the unexpected demands.
